Management

Alan Atkinson
President and Chief Executive Officer

Atkinson came to Xiotech from EMC, where he served as Vice President of the Storage Software Group. Prior to that, he co-founded WysDM Software, Inc., a company specializing in data protection management across industries such as financial services, telecommunications and pharmaceuticals. He served as CEO of that company until he sold it to EMC in 2008.

Before co-founding WysDM, Atkinson served as Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product Marketing at StorageNetworks, and helped the company conduct a successful initial public offering and land clients such as Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and Network Appliance. He also worked for Goldman Sachs, serving as Information Technology Vice President responsible for the firm's global storage infrastructure. Before that, he worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories in a variety of functions for the company's mainframe and UNIX environments.

Atkinson holds a master's degree in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Delaware.

Jim McDonald
Chief Strategy Officer

Jim McDonald is Chief Strategy Officer of Xiotech Corporation, and joined the company in October of 2009, working out of Xiotech Europe Ltd.

McDonald came to Xiotech from EMC, where he served as a Chief Technology Officer. Prior to EMC, he co-founded WysDM Software, Inc., a company specializing in data protection management across industries such as financial services, telecommunications and pharmaceuticals. He served as Chief Technology Officer there, initially developing the WysDM product architecture and latterly working in business development and with the company's largest customers and partners on product strategy. The company was sold to EMC in 2008.

Before co-founding WysDM, he was Director of Engineering at StorageNetworks, where he was responsible for global primary storage engineering as well as being a technical liaison with a number of key accounts. He's also worked for Goldman Sachs, where he held international responsibilities in the systems management, scheduling and primary and secondary storage areas, and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, where he was primary architect and systems administrator for one of the first public-access systems on the Internet.

McDonald holds a BSc [Hons] in computer science from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

Stephen Sicola
Chief Technology Officer

Stephen J. Sicola was the VP of the Advanced Storage Architecture group within Seagate Technology. Stephen has over 29 years in the storage industry, was a Compaq Fellow, former CTO of StorageWorks at Compaq and Digital Equipment Corporation. Stephen has led developments on several generations of storage arrays, storage architectures, and software & hardware teams. Stephen has 39 patents pending or granted in the areas of Storage Architecture, RAID, Fault Tolerance, Caching, Disaster Tolerance, and Virtualization.

Stephen has a BSEE from Stanford University in Electrical Engineering, and a Master from NTU in Computer Architecture/Fault Tolerant Computing.

Mark Lang
Chief Financial Officer

Mark Lang has more than 30 years of high-tech financial and operational experience. Prior to joining Xiotech in 2009, he was a consultant serving as interim CFO for various companies, including: AQS Inc., an insurance industry software provider; Linux Networx, a high-performance computer manufacturer; and The Canopy Group, a $250M venture capital firm.

Lang previously held several executive-level financial positions, including CFO for SRC Computers, CFO for VTEL Corp., Group Controller for Cray Research, Inc., and Controller for Inmos Corp., a memory chip manufacturer. He worked overseas for six years, including four as the European Audit Manager for Texas Instruments, Inc. He also gained extensive operational experience as general manager for Cray Research, Inc., Johnson Matthey Electronics, and The Peachtree Companies.

Lang earned his CPA as a senior accountant with Arthur Young & Co in Atlanta. He obtained his BBA degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Regis College in Denver.

David Gustavsson
Vice President, Engineering

David Gustavsson is Vice President of Engineering at Xiotech, and he is instrumental in defining and setting direction for the Emprise™ product family and the company's flagship Intelligent Storage Element (ISE™) technology.

Gustavsson has been with Xiotech for two years, coming to the company with the Advanced Storage Architecture group acquired from Seagate Technology in November 2007. Prior to that, he worked for four years at Seagate in a variety of engineering managerial roles, leading efforts to stabilize code, develop and deliver firmware and design the ISE unit. Before that, he worked as an engineer and project lead for EMC and Autodiagnos AB in Sweden.

Gustavsson holds a Master of Science degree in computer science from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the University of Dalarna in Sweden.

Brian Reagan
Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Development

Brian Reagan is senior vice president of marketing and business development at Xiotech. He joined the company in November of 2009.

Brian came to Xiotech from IBM, where he served as global Strategy and Portfolio Executive for the $1 billion Business Continuity and Resiliency Services division of IBM Global Services. He was responsible for accelerating the sales of the global portfolio, aligning investments and resources to strategic and business priorities and collaborating with geography and sales leaders around the globe. He joined IBM in 2008 as part of the acquisition of Arsenal Digital Solutions, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. As CMO of Arsenal, Brian led all marketing functions at Arsenal Digital including strategy, product management, corporate communications, demand generation and channel marketing.

Prior to Arsenal, Brian worked eight years in senior-level strategy and marketing positions at EMC Corporation. He planned and developed new market strategies, including M&A, for EMC's $1 billion professional services business unit and served on EMC's CTO Council, providing critical market insights that influenced technology roadmaps and investments. In his global marketing leadership roles at EMC, he orchestrated global product and services launches and developed the company's first focused campaign to penetrate the mid-market, its first integrated customer and partner communications portal and its first e-commerce engine. He also previously held roles at MCI Telecommunications and PCLC, a database and data management solution provider in the northeastern United States.

Brian holds a MBA from George Mason University and a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Bennington College in Vermont. He also has been a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences and a guest contributor to online webcasts sponsored by Enterprise Strategy Group, IDC, Ziff-Davis and CMP Publishing.

Mark Glasgow
Vice President, Worldwide Sales

Mark Glasgow has led sales organizations and sold complex high technology solutions for nearly 20 years, including five with Xiotech, and has a proven track record of sales leadership and success.

He came to Xiotech from TenFold Corporation, where he served as Vice President of Sales and assisted in helping the company design and execute a turnaround strategy from several years of declining revenues. The effort resulted in several significant new accounts and contracts with some of the fastest growing companies in America. While at TenFold, Mark increased new account acquisition by more than 300 percent. Prior to TenFold, Mark served as Vice President of Sales at several start-ups including Talk2 Technology (acquired by PumaTech) and WireCACHE. Before that, Mark worked for nearly five years at Sequent Computer Systems before it merged with IBM. He was the top worldwide salesman there in 1999.

Glasgow holds a bachelor's degree in business management and finance from Brigham Young University.

George Klauser
Vice President, Worldwide Services

Over the past 20 years, George J. Klauser has been responsible for managing customer service, sales and operations teams. George's experience includes developing collaborative customer base sales and service programs for enterprise customers, service program design and development of professional service business units to meet the needs of enterprise customers.

Prior to joining Xiotech, George was president of Virtual Growth Incorporated, a provider of outsourced accounting and e-commerce solutions. Before that, he spent 19 years at Ceridian Corporation in a variety of sales, operations and service management positions, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Customer Programs worldwide.

Tina Linne
Director of Human Resources

Tina Linne is Director of Human Resources at Xiotech, and joined the company in February 2010.

Linne came to Xiotech from XATA Corporation, where she served as director of human resources. Prior to that, she was a manager of human resources at both LSS Data Systems and GMAC Financial Services. Throughout her 17+ year career, she has established herself as a great facilitator of workplace success and bridge between management initiatives and workplace solutions, a capable leader, a strong recruiter and a valued counselor to executive management.

Linne earned her MBA in human resource management from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and management from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn. She’s an active member of the Society of Human Resource Management in SHRM and the Twin Cities Human Resource Association (TCHRA).

Richard Lary
Corporate Fellow

Richard Lary is corporate fellow at Xiotech, and joined the company in December of 2009.

Richard Lary has been in the computer industry for 40 years. He began his career as a software engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), building operating systems and compilers for the PDP-8 and PDP-11 computers. In 1975, he served as a member of the core team that defined the VAX computer architecture, and later the implementation team for the first VAX computer. After joining DEC's Storage Business Unit in 1978, Richie was a key architect of the Digital Storage Architecture and a key implementer of several of the hardware and firmware components of the associated product family. He became DEC's Storage Architect in 1990, Storage Technical Director in 1994, and Compaq Computer Corporation's Storage Technical Director in 1998, where he was responsible for technical oversight of the entire corporate storage architecture and product line. Prior to joining Xiotech, he had been an independent consultant in the storage industry and a technical advisor to several emerging storage companies since 2000.

Richard holds 32 patents for his work in processor and storage system architecture and design, and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Server I/O Conference in January 2000. He also frequently speaks at industry events.

Richard holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University.

Ken Hendrickson
Chairman - Retired CEO of Ancor Communications

In his most recent position as CEO of Ancor Communications, from 1997 to 2000, Ken Hendrickson successfully led the company in the competitive market for Fibre Channel switches. Prior to that, Hendrickson served as Executive Vice President and General Manager for the Microcomputer Products at Western Digital, President of the Archive Technology Division of Archive Corporation, President of Genicon Corporation's Printer Products Division, and Vice President and General Manager of the Large Disk Division of Control Data Corporation. He also held executive positions at IBM Corporation during his 18-year tenure there. Hendrickson serves on the board of directors of Mednet, a healthcare software concern.

Jerry Gallagher
Director - General Partner, Oak Investment Partners

Gerald Gallagher is a General Partner of Oak Investment Partners, a venture capital partnership. For 30 years he has been involved with the retail industry holding positions as an analyst, manager and venture capitalist. Before joining Oak in 1987, he was Vice Chairman of Dayton Hudson Corporation where, during a ten year period, he served in both operating and staff positions. Prior to 1977 he was the retail industry analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Mr. Gallagher is currently a director of five privately held companies. He received an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Ed Glassmeyer
Director - General Partner, Oak Investment Partners

Edward F. Glassmeyer is a founding General Partner of Oak Investment Partners. Ed was with Citicorp Venture Capital from 1968 to 1970, followed by The Sprout Capital Group where he was Managing Partner from 1971 to 1974. Ed led the first round venture financings in both Shugart Associates (1973), and Seagate Technology (1980). Shugart Associates was the first floppy disk company later sold to Xerox, while Seagate was the first 5 1/4 hard disk company, and today is the industry leading disk drive company. Ed has invested successfully in the IT and telecom industries over the last three decades, and continues to be an active investor in the data storage industry. He graduated from Princeton University in 1963, served as an officer in the Marine Corps from 1963 to 1966, and received his MBA with distinction from The Tuck School in 1968. Ed was a founding Director of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) in 1973, and is an Overseer of The Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Stephen J. Luczo
Director - Chairman of the Board, Seagate Technology

Stephen J. Luczo is the Chairman of the Board of Seagate Technology, the worldwide leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of hard disc drives and storage solutions. Mr. Luczo joined Seagate in October 1993 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and was promoted to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer in September 1997. In July 1998, he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer and became Chairman of the Board in June 2002. Mr. Luczo resigned as the Chief Executive Officer in July 2004, but retained his position as Chairman of the Board. He became the non-employee Chairman of the Board in October 2006. Prior to joining Seagate, Mr. Luczo was Senior Managing Director of the Global Technology Group of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., an investment banking firm, from February 1992 to October 1993.

Casey Powell

Casey Powell served as president and CEO of Xiotech for four years. Before that, he was the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Sequent Computer Systems, Inc., a pioneer in the development of commercial multiprocessing computers. He played a pivotal role in developing a partnership with IBM on a next-generation version of UNIX, which culminated in IBM's acquisition of Sequent in a deal valued at $810 million. Earlier in his career, Powell held several executive positions at Intel Corporation, including general manager of the company's microprocessor operations. Most recently he was CEO of Stonefly Networks. Powell has been a director of Verity, Inc., since August 2000. In addition he served on the National Board of Directors of the American Electronics Association.

Powell holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y.
